How to move from L permit to a B, and change canton at the same time... [EU citizen]

Hello EF

Long story short, I'm staying in Switzerland to be with my Swiss beau..

I was a filthy contractor and have an L permit with BS until May 2015. I took a permanent job with a new employer and recently moved to BL but I want to apply for the B permit now. My new employer is in Zurich.

What I have managed to work out so far is that I need to do the following;
1) De-register from BS (apparently it can be done online?) but the only website I can find is in German?
2) Register with the Gemiunde of Muttenz (where I now live)

My question is how do I apply for the 'upgrade' at the same time? Or will I have to do the 2 things separately? I have all my health insurance paper work and my employment contract. Will my new employer have to make the B permit application?

Thanks very much in advance for your advice and experiences..

Ali

You take your new employment contract to the gemeinde of Muttenz when you go to register with them. That starts off the process of getting the B permit issued - assuming your contract is a permanent one and for longer than a year.

And yes, you will only find the de-registration in German. You've been/are living in German speaking cantons. What other language did you expect to find it in?

Well, since it is the migration office I would have thought they would realise that people migrating to Switzerland (whether they like it or not) would not necessarily speak or read German..

Thank you for the info, seems I should be able to kill two birds with one stone as it were..

Oh, come on! Britain is the only country in Europe that I know of that panders to other languages for official documents. If you go to any other country you probably won't find them in anything other than the official one, be it French, German, Spanish, Italian, etc. Some of the forms here do have English as well, but it's really up to each canton what documents they provide in which language. As both Basels are German speaking, why bother with anything else? Still, as they're near France also I suppose you could ask if they have one in French if that would help.
