Re: Survey from the Bundesamt für Statistik

The government knows everything about you doesn't it? Do you complete a tax return? Does your company inform the government about you? Your health insurance company knows all about you, your tax office knows if you are paying church tax. Where is the problem?

Can't you trust a government that has strict banking secrecy laws; a country that is full of private thinking people, that wouldn't dream of telling you how much they earn, nor how big their mortgage is. A country where public CCTV is frowned upon.

It is the Swiss law that you must co-operate with the survey: accept it or you might be fined. To avoid the questions, you will have to leave Switzerland, won't you?

It was very much how much i earn what is my job my religion etc etc

sorry but my salary and religion are something I never discuss I am from Northern Ireland its a big no no for me.

I can't remember all the questions but those are the few that stuck out for me.
The survey I received does ask where I work but does not ask how much I earn. As for religion, you are required anyway to state this when you apply for a residence permit here.

Re: Survey from the Bundesamt für Statistik

I got it as well and filled it out online.

Each and every piece of information that was asked for in that form was already available to the government in some form or another, or easily obtainable by the government, through information provided during registration at the Gemeinde, or ID provided while signing various contracts, or through taxes paid.

Unless you plan to start living illegally in CH, get over yourselves.

What's the problem with them knowing that?
It's hardly sensitive information unless you're a secret agent or something.

It could well be relevant to a decision on a citizenship application. Imagine having your request to become Swiss turned down because you once stated on a questionnaire that you dream in English.
