EU B-Permit for self employed... how much money do I need to bring?

Hi!

As per my other thread am I toying with the idea to move back to Switzerland in order to set up a start-up. I read all the official info as well as any thread I could find, but all are a bit vague:

- I know I can come to Switzerland, register and get a b permit for "up to five years" to start a company.

- I know that I have to "proof that the business can support me"...

Question to anyone who has done so before: What does the second point actually mean? I assume the authorities simply want to see a bank statement with x kCHFs on it?

Any input really appreciated!

P.S> Yes, I am aware I could ask the migration office directly. My experience with the Swiss migration office is that it is WAY better to know your rights and the facts before talking to them...

No, they want to see complete account statements that the company is bringing in money enough to support you. If you can show invoices etc. with proofs of X CHF last 2 years that will make them satisfied.

How much X CHF really is is hard to say without going to migrations office. It should be enough to give you at least 3k/month in salary after all company tax deductions.

So if the company profit is 200k CHF per year then you are fine. If it is 20k CHF per year then you need to find a job to stay here.

That's all fine... but that's info I can only give after the company is started and running, isn't it? So what do I need to bring to start it is the question...

You probably need to ask the cantonal migration office where you plan to live. It probably depends on type of business, general cost of living, etc. After all you'll need to make more to live in Zurich than you would to live here in Fribourg canton so I would expect Zurich to want to see you have more money at your disposal.

I registered as self employed in 2009, its been a while but back then I showed statements with cash/equivalents of $100K. Not to say thats how much you need but it worked fine me.

You give them a bullshit business plan like everyone else.

Most business plans have rose tinted specs attached anyway !
