Indian Passport for new born child

Hi,

We are from Basel & my husband is employed here and with a B-Permit that expires on 31-Dec-2015. We are expecting a baby on the 3rd week of Dec. As we are aware, that processing time of Indian passport takes around 6-8 weeks from Indian Embassy, Bern.

Is it possible that we can get a emergency travel document against the passport application (which would also work as a passport to apply for the B-Permit for the new born?).

We are also aware that we would our birth certificates & marriage certificates in original to get the child's birth certificate which we have with us.

Any help & experience sharing with be appreciated as we are slightly tensed that our permit expires on 31-Dec-2015 and we will not be allowed to stay further and we cannot return unless we have a travel document for the child.

Thanks in advance.

Are you staying after the 31st of Decemberů or leaving. You say you need a passport for the baby in order to leave, yet you also say you need to to apply for the B-permit??

Re: Indian Passport for new born child

Hi,

We are on B-Permit and would stay till 31-Dec-2015 as this expires after that. By applying B-Permit we mean for the new born child (dependant B-Permit).

Thanks for your reply.

But what is the point in applying for a B permit for the baby, if you leave 1 week after the birth? The permit would hardly be applied for before you leave the country!

Also have you considered what to do if the baby is late, and is born after your permits expire!? You won't be able to travel at that point!

If you don't intend staying after Dec 31st, then I'd either organise a permit extension due to your pregnancy to give you more time, or leave Switzerland before the birth so none of it is an issue!
