Au Pair changing Families

Hi english fourm community,

I am seeking a bit of help regarding my Visa as an Au Pair. I am American and I received one of what I have been told the last visas to enter into Switzerland as an Au Pair for 2015 (received in Dec. 2014). I am currently stationed with a family here in Zurich and for reasons that I wish to not disclose on here I am wanting to move families. I have another family that I want to move to but my question is because all parties (agency included), and money is involved..... Does anyone have an idea of how difficult it is to change over with the new restrictions or if it is even possible?

My worst fear is to put everyone involved through this to then have nothing happen and for me to go home (which I would be doing anyways if I cannot change as I cannot stay any longer with my current family). I am well aware that there is a recommendation process that needs to be written to the government from the current family and this shouldn't be a problem as far as recommending me and leaving my current situation. I know that there is an immense amount of paper work involved and a change fee.

Can anyone fill in more blanks for me? Is this possible?

also my future family plans to call immigration on monday to find out more information, I am only wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

Thank you all!

Re: Au Pair changing Families

As it all has to go through the agency perhaps it would be best to talk to them about it. Non-EU's can't be hired as au pairs except via an approved agency.

Although you don't say, if there is any type of abuse going on then report it to the police, the agency, the commune/gemeinde office and anyone else you can think of.

Edit: And what are you exactly? Here you call yourself a nanny

Swisscom options for short term cell phone plan

and now you're an au pair. Which is it as the rules for changing families may be different.

Medea,

Thank you for your response. I was able to change over to a new family. This thread can be closed.

Could you tell us how it happened? It would be useful for others to know what the process is.

Based on this post I don't think the new family is in Switzerland somehow.

New to forum but leaving CH

(Or the new family didn't work out either.)

Other items, probably, to follow.

Yep there's a few of them around at the moment. Not even bothering to try to hide the fact that they only joined to sell their stuff either.

At least this one was already a member albeit not very active but she hasn't got a hope in hell of selling her bike at that price.

Belgianmum,

I apologize that I cannot be on this forum as much as some people are, my work keeps me busy and off the computer. What I would appreciate is the comments about me, maybe best if you do not have anything nice to say....don't say it at all.

No, I have not posted a lot on here because most of the time when I have come to English Forum for a question it has already been answered several times by others. English Forum has been a very useful tool to navigate my time here in Switzerland, isn't that what it is here for? or am I wrong?

Timow,

No the bike is the only item I have to sell, and the price has dropped.

Medea Fleecestealer,

I am not exactly sure about the process as it is all done through an agency. From what I do know is that being an american and having a family where it is their first Au Pair can really help your chances. Otherwise Belgianmum is right, I have in the end decided to go home, even after the change.
