B-Permit De-actiated

I have been in Switzerland for over 2 years on a B-Permit. I am from the UK. I moved address but I forgot to inform the office, stupid I know. When I went in to register my new address they say they de-activated B-permit and told me I need to write to immigration and they will take it from there. I am basically panicking. Luckily enough my employer are helping me with this. They have prepared a letter and will provide payslips etc. The lady at the office said it should be fine as this situation does happen.

Does anyone know of someone who has been in this situation and did they come okay? I am kicking myself for not registering sooner. I have a good job, never been late with bills etc I just made a stupid mistake

Better start packing your bags, huh?

Just kidding. I would be terrified too if it were me, but honestly, I don't think you'll be in much trouble, realistically. These things happen, and in my experience the people working at the immigration authorities understand that mistakes are made, that life isn't always square etc and are more than willing to help. I wouldn't worry myself until proven otherwise. So far it sounds like a simple negligence that will demand some extra paperwork, and nothing more.

Yikes! I hope this works out for you in the end. Sorry but I have no real knowledge to offer you. Good luck nonetheless.

I think you will be fine. They might fine you if they are mean... My Gemeinde has a habit of fining people for not doing things on time, usually around 100chf.

Re: B-Permit De-actiated

I updated my address a year after moving and nothing happened. No fine, no permit cancellation. I just received a letter telling me what to do next time I moved.
