Swiss Dependent Visa ( INDIA) ..Need help

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for small help regarding Dependent Visa .

I am in Switzerland from last 1.5 year on L permit and my company has applied for my wife's dependent Visa .

After several follow-ups with Swiss consulate in Delhi, I received an update that my marriage certificate has to be verified by some third party which would take 8 weeks once all the documents have been submitted and would cost Rs 51000. I had done normal legalization of my marriage certificate which is required for any dependent Visa. After 6 weeks someone came to my home town and did all verification and told decision will be given in a week but now 3 weeks have passed and I have not received any update for the same .Whenever I call embassy they tell me to wait and not to enquire again and again

Has anyone faced this kind of issue and if yes is there anything I could do to fasten up the process as I also don't want to make consulate people angry.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, the Swiss consulate CAN make independent and direct verification of facts presented, apart from legalisation. The Swiss consul website has a pdf file on dependent visa Type D, which mentions this.

You must wait and let them verify all they want.... finally if the facts are in order you will get a positive decision. The system is quite fair AFAIK.

Remember that the timeline is only a guide and can vary one way or the other. Also, how long do you have to go on your L permit before it expires and is your employer going to apply for either another L or a B permit for you? There was a recent thread where the dependent's permit was not granted because the time left on the L permit before expiration was too short in the opinion of the Swiss authorities.

This thread on the process might help you too. It took them 3 months to get approval.

Thanks for the reply Medea and SVA.

I started visa process in January and my permit will be expiring in October after that I may have to go back to India. As now the time left for my permit is bit small that's why I am getting bit impatient .

That may be the problem then. The Swiss authorities may very well feel that your wife could come over on a tourist visa for up to 3 months to visit you before your permit expires so may not grant a dependent's permit as you have so little time left. Here's the thread on the recent rejection:

Re-Appeal for dependent VISA rejection

Re: Swiss Dependent Visa ( INDIA) ..Need help

Hi there

This is my personal experience and my wife dependent visa got processed early this year. It took 3 to 3.5 months for me to get my wife's visa right from submitting the application till having valid permit in hand. Of course this is case dependent and time may vary case by case.

As far as i know and with my experience, Once legalized its not required to get it verified again. They had even asked me to bear costs for the verification process. I had been there in person and spoke to them and shown them the stamps from both state authorities in India as well as external affairs ministry office and they told it was by mistake they asked for the verification process again. Either the certificate should be legalized or the cantonal authorities will get it verified. Either of this should be done and not both.

I suggest you go to cantonal authorities (where you live) and speak to them. Get this clarified.

You can PM me if need be and i will be happy to share my experience. By the way my company had applied for my wife's permit from Bangalore in November 2nd week and she got her permit by Feb 2nd week.

Cheers,
Manju

Re: Swiss Dependent Visa ( INDIA) ..Need help

And, master visa (i.e. your's) should be valid for at least 6 months at the time of application submission or acknowledgement at embassy in India. I read this somewhere on the Internet and i do not have the link to share and i am not sure of the source. I assume your wife has got an acknowledgement (small stamp in her passport).

Cheers,
Manju
