help needed - work permit in swiss

Dear forum members,

My name is Anita and I am from india but living in germany for 12 years with an unlimited residence permit (niederlassungserlaubnis). I am currently employed as a sales engineer in munich.

I am looking for a career change and hence also applying in swiss for IT jobs. I have come across a lot of potential jobs in zurich.

My question is if I am allowed to work in Switzerland without a work permit if I have my German niederlassungserlaubnis?

If not, is the work permit process complicated in Switzerland? for eg, is it easy getting a work permit in swiss with my employment letter from my job provider in switzerland?

thanks so much in advance for your help and support.

regards,
Anita

No

No, it is not easy for non EU citizens. And yes the process is complicated.

Do check the forum here as there were several people asking a similar question?

Good luck with the job search

Why don't you apply for German Citizenship as you have already been there 12 years. Then you become an EU citizen and the game changes altogether.
With Non-Eu citizenship (German Permit doesn't play any role here), chances of getting a Swiss Permit are bleak

Re: help needed - work permit in swiss

No, it's not easy to get a job here as a non-EU national and a simple letter won't do the trick. Any Swiss employer has to first prove they can't find a Swiss/EU national or someone else already living here who had a valid work permit who could do the job before they'd be allowed to hire you. The criteria is outlined here:

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...zulassung.html

And no, your German residence permit has no bearing on your status here in Switzerland. You're still a third country national as far as they're concerned.

I" am a citizen of a non-EU/EFTA state in possession of an unlimited residence permit valid for an EU/EFTA state. Do I need visa to work in Switzerland?

Whether or not you possess a residence permit valid for an EU/EFTA state does not affect your status in Switzerland. You are subject to the same provisions on entry and work as people who enter Switzerland from a third state. As a rule, you will need to apply for an entry visa, which will be issued by the Swiss diplomatic representation abroad as soon as you have been granted a work permit."
