As I understand your situation, you are currently serving notice period and that you will complete 1 year of employment before your permit expires, at which you must leave Switzerland.

If thats the case, I would suggest you to register with RAV and apply for unemployment benefits. RAV is also obliged to extend your permit for the duration for which you should receive the unemployment benefits. So this solves both your problems: not only you get to extend your stay beyond permit expiry for another year but you also get paid monthly salary plus help in finding a job.

Of course finding a new post doc job should eventually be your priority
The point is the OP cannot extend his permit himself, only an employer can actually make the application because of him being a non-EU national. Effectively the canton will sit on his application until he can produce a new employment contract and then it'll have to go through the non-EU hiring process to get accepted.

Re: Non-EU citizen lost job in 9 months (B permit)

If I would have selected position for couple of years, it would have been benefited my profile.

At my current place 80% student left, so many people can not be wrong.

Now, its bit weird situation of permit and stay but hopefully my previous work profile and efforts will help and I will get new position soon.

I will just visit RAV and will make sure about medeas point ...

Thank you very much

Re: Non-EU citizen lost job in 9 months (B permit)

The information I have: RAV requires 12 months of continuous employment to offer benefits. Based on the employment period they calculate the period for unemployment benefits.
