Vaud - Dependent Visa (Non EU) - Advice Needed

Hello All,

I am a new member of this forum, would seek your advice on my case.

I am here at Switzerland past 4 months, applied for family reunion the application submitted on March 23. It has been patient 10 weeks wait and now I receive the information that further investigation needs to be done on my application (for my wife and Kid) and I need to pay charges of 1800 CHF.

The money is not a big deal for now, Since i am already been waiting for 2 months now i hear that this process would take another 2 months for approval.

Anyone with Similar experience , please advise how to go forward.
I'm desperate to get my family here. Please help.

Thanks,
Balaji TS

Yes this is quite normal. They select some people randomly for background check. They will hire someone to verify marriage certificate, birth certificate etc personally. Once he verify with each issuing authorities he will send back report and depending upon the report they will issue dependent visa. The fees is a rough estimate.

Thank you for the response. Could you please let me know how long does this normally take.
Would there be a waiting period of 2 months again.

I will not be surprised if it all takes more than 2 months. They are very particular with the paperwork and normally it takes time.

I agree. It took me around 4 months to get mine. They seem to take their sweet time if you're a non-EU. It will come eventually, just make sure to pay a visit to your Control des Habitants to make sure they have all the required documents. They didn't tell us they needed certain documents until we asked if they had everything.

Is your marriage certificate and kids birth certificate legalized? If yes the verification may not be required again. If not yet legalized then your certificates should under go verification.

I have heard few people in this forum saying even if legalized, verification can be done and its authorities decision.

However in my case and even with my colleagues, if legalized no additional verification was required.

Wish you good luck.

Cheers
Manju

Re: Vaud - Dependent Visa (Non EU) - Advice Needed

Hello,

I am in the same situation. Currently I am living in Italy and have been offered a position from Lausanne - Vaud. I am already married have all documents ready. Now I have to apply for the Swiss working visa from New Delhi. I wish to apply joint visa with my wife and travel together. Although I have sent marriage certificate to my employer and they are processing but I don't know to what stage. I am wondering if this is possible ? Very Confused now...

Hello,

Yes, The marriage and birth certificates are leagalized from local administration (State govt) and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

Still I received this kind of update. Do you mean they will verify the marriage certificate legalization once and then go ahead with the process.

Or would this be delayed further. I am getting impatient as every day passes.
Been 4 months since i have been seperated.

Yes someone will go to each local administration who issued them. Time to verify them will depend on how many city/town/village he will need to travel to check. You will have to be patient. Sooner you pay verification fees better for you.

I have paid the verification fees the very next day.
And all the administration offices are in the same city. Hope this would cut down the time delay.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: Vaud - Dependent Visa (Non EU) - Advice Needed

Hello,

I had a person from the mumbai embassy visit my house for inquiry, they verified my mariage photographs and other information.
This happened a week back, I submitted my documents at Swiss consulate in Mumbai 3 weeks back.
It is almost a month time now, any idea as to how long would it take further for a communication from the Canton authorities on the approval of the VISA?

Thanks,
Balaji TS

Took me about 6 weeks for them to get the report written up and sent to the consulate, additional 3 weeks or so for the report to get back to the local authorities.

If you are up to it you can try talking the cantonal authorities into accepting a scanned copy of the report from the consulate; in my case they were OK with that but the consulate scanned the wrong page before putting it in the post.

Re: Vaud - Dependent Visa (Non EU) - Advice Needed

Hello All,

Could some one tell me how long would it take normally for the decision to be communicated once the verification is completed.

I am getting really impatient since I have been following up for nearly five months now on this with the authorities.

Anyone could share their experience as to how long it took for them to get the decision once the consulate person completed his in person verification with applicants.

Thanks,
Balaji TS

Decision will be taken at federal as well as cantonal level and it will communicated to you and Mumbai consulate. You may try asking consulate if they received the decision.

Re: Vaud - Dependent Visa (Non EU) - Advice Needed

I would not expect anything before 4 weeks specially during summer/winter vacation.

In my case they informed consulate once decision was made but it took someone 2 weeks+ just to write me a letter. My wife asked consulate about the decision and received visa before I received the authorization letter with the bills. Luckily I did not go through manual verification process like you.

Thank you very much for the response.

It has been 2 weeks since the person came home and verified the details, I hope I would get a communication in 2 weeks either from Consulate or Population office Lausanne.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks,
Balaji TS

Hi Balaji,

Did you receive approval for your dependents? I am in the same situation and waiting for response from commune.
Could you please share how much time it took for you to get the approval after verified documents are sent from India? Also, please share contact details (email/phone no) of the Vaud canton for me to follow-up.

Thanks,
Pooja
