Work visa for nanny

Can I apply for a work visa for a part time nanny that would work for us around 20 h per week? Are there any restrictions or financial downsides of that? Given that she is from an EU country...

Re: Work visa for nanny

If she is from the EU-17 then she would apply for a residence permit herself. You would pay tax & social contributions for her as you would with anyone who is taxed at source.

You need to pay her enough so that she can live on the salary, otherwise the residence permit will be denied.

Thanks! Would you know what is considered a monthly minimum to live on?
Also the job I would be possibly offering is not a full time...

Re: Work visa for nanny

Minimum monthly wage for a domestic helper/nanny is 3,500 for an average 43 hour week - could be more if they're experienced and/or your canton has additional rules.

General figure tends to be CHF100 a day for cantonal calculation purposes so around the 3,000 a month mark anyway. Best thing to do is talk to your canton migration office and see what they advise as if it's only a part time position your potential nanny will probably need to find another employer as well to meet the financial requirements.

Re: Work visa for nanny

THANKS SO MUCH! Does it have any significant disadvantages to employ somebody like that? M I supposed to pay them if they are sick for example? Does anybody know what happens if the employer is not happy with the work done? How to terminate the engagement...
