Exam for geneva naturalisation?

Hi everyone. Some people on this forum might already know my situation, but the base line is that I submitted my application in 2013 for ordinary naturalisation and it is on standby. Today I read on Geneva's website for naturalisation that there is now a test/exam for naturalisation? From my previous understanding, I thought there was no such exam in the canton for naturalisation. Is this a recent measure and if so, is it retroactive?

I tried looking for some signs of news, but I couldn't really find any. Or this just referring to commune level interviews rather than cantonal level tests? Some clarification would be really nice and thank you all in advance!

Do you mean a written exam? There's always been an interview with questions on Swiss history, geography, politics..., but I heard that a written exam was being introduced, I did not realise it was so quick.

Re: Exam for geneva naturalisation?

Did you see this?

http://www.ge.ch/naturalisations/?ru...age-presidente

You'll need a B1 level by the looks of it, but it doesn't say whether it's being applied retroactively or not. This may be to do with bringing Geneva canton's laws into line with the new Federal law possibly.

This gives more general info:

Or are you thinking of this "test" which Geneva has provided to help people prepare for their naturalisation?

How recent was this post? I was aware of needing to do a B1 oral test to get a language certificate that is needed in order to apply for the citizenship. But this test had little to do with knowledge of Swiss centric things. Is this the test that this post is referring to? If not, is there a test for geography, politics, etc being introduced?

Re: Exam for geneva naturalisation?

Well, one of the links in my second link said that A2 was the language requirement and that document was dated December 2014 so the B1 is quite a recent change.

That isn't a test as such, more an aid for people to bone up on for their interviews I guess. Geneva must think it's important for applicants though, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to make it.

Where's the link for the test you read about?

I think it must have been the third link you mentioned. It was mentioned somewhere that the online quiz they give is meant to simulate some sort of test or exam. Not to mention, McTAVGE said that there was a written exam that was in the works. And I might have heard elsewhere, but nothing substantive about it. Do you know anything about the canton moving towards a written exam or is that just in the works?

Hi, so you have been waiting since 2013 and no news/letters from GVA Naturalisation department? Have you tried calling them and asking where you stand?
