No, I'm an Egyptian citizen. The references sent to them were from my host. I thought maybe telling them that my father is a US citizen would mean anything since I'll be applying for the green card through my father next year.
Why would you need a green card? Can't you apply for citizenship?

Not that I'd advise getting US citizenship these days unless you plan to spend the rest of your life in the US. FATCA is making life too difficult for Americans abroad.

Anyway, have a look at this section and see if there's anything you/your host may have missed.

The thing is that the registration for the upcoming conference still isn't available. I could show them the official invitation from the previous conference (it's the same conference/exhibition). I'm not sure if that would help.

No. They aren't going to care where you've been in the past.. Or what you MIGHT do in the future. They want concrete proof you'll leave Europe.

From what I could understand, this is only valid for children (under 18), I mean to apply directly for the US citizenship. I'm 24, I would have to get a green card first.

Do you think mentioning this to the Swiss Embassy while sending them a photocopy of my father's passport would make any difference? I really have no intention to stay in Switzerland for more than 15 days.

No, it won't help at all. So your father's a US citizen, so what? the Swiss will say. Totally irrelevant to your visa application. And what you plan to do in the future is also irrelevant. They're only interested in what you plan to do in Switzerland.

No.

Even if you had a Green Card right now... You'd still need a schengen visa. So "I'm going to apply for one" will make no difference whatso ever.

Makes sense. Well, I'll try to get the invitation letter or at least the invoice for the upcoming conference. I don't know if there's anything else that I can do.

Well, I thought it would make a difference.

What do you think would be the best thing to do then?
