Schengen Visa refused, want to appeal against rejection

Hello everyone, my name is Karim and this is my first post on the forum. I'm very pleased to meet you all and I look forward to becoming one of the active members here.

I know that this will not be the first time that someone writes about this particular problem, but I really need your help/advice with my case.

I'm an Egyptian citizen, and I was planning to visit my friend and her family for two weeks. However, my visa application got rejected. I'm considering an appeal, and I would like to know if it would be worth doing so. I plan to travel at the end of September, and I'm not sure if there would be much time.

I have no intention to stay there for more than 15 days, and I have provided all the documents that they have requested. I honestly can't see why it has been rejected.

There are a few things that I would like to point out for you guys:

1- the invitation letter was written by my friend's mother, and the purpose was to visit Switzerland for the first time.

2- The letter from my employer clearly stated that I will need to be back in Egypt before the 15 of October. It was an official letterhead and it was signed and stamped by the company.

3- I was granted a Schengen visa two months ago (German embassy). I went to Berlin for a week for a business conference.

4- I will be attending another business conference in San Francisco in October this year, however, I haven't mentioned anything about this trip in my employer letter.

5- I was born in Italy, and my father is a US citizen (I don't if that helps). I have no intention to immigrate to Switzerland.

Please feel free to ask any questions. Your help is much appreciated.

Best,
Karim

Have you asked them on what grounds it was rejected? They didn't give any indication whatsoever?

What reason did they give for the refusal?

Really looks like the same considering the mother link as well as all of the other telling details...and if not it's one of the worlds biggest coincidences... well spotted!

EDIT - OK apparently it's coincidence, fair enough... chuffing eerily similar though.

The document says "The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay are not reliable"

I've given them everything they asked for. It just doesn't make sense.

Also his potential fiance was saying that he will be immigrating here in the future, so seems like the story in the OP in this thread was purposefully kept light on the details with regards to her being the fiance and his surely inevitable plans to join her. If it is the same case, then it seems like the Swiss authorities pre-empted the situation and smelt something fishy with the way the application was submitted etc. Either way, something clearly didn't sit right with them.
Guys, it's not the same case. I don't know the owner of the other thread. I'm not even engaged. This is a different case here. It's only a coincidence.

Huge coincidence then... two Egyptian men wanting to visit at the same time for 2 weeks, and both whose friend has a mother who wrote the letter before being rejected with exactly the same reasons!

Thought of playing the lottery lately?

Both given EXACTLY the same reason for visa refusal!

It's one hell of a coincidence. But seriously, it's not the same case. I don't know anyone in Ticino.

Indeed, why would you know anyone from the Italian part of Switzerland, it's not like you have any common language, being born in Italy and all...

Anyway whether it is true or not, I guess all you can do is try and appeal, but I doubt you will have much luck.

Not a coincidence. Only that they are more stringent with visas for that part of the world, due to current events widely reported in the news.

Well, apparently, you guys don't really believe that these are two different cases. I don't blame you, though. I would probably think the same! It's a crazy coincidence.

While it's true that I was born in Italy and speak Italian, I really don't have any connections with anyone in the Italian part of Switzerland. Also, having read the other thread, she said that her fiance was planning to visit in the end of August. I wanted to go there in the end of September.

It iiiiis a coincidence

Thank you. Do you think it would be good if I told them that I must travel to San Francisco in mid October? What do you think would make them change their mind and actually give me the visa?

Do you have flights booked?

Maybe if you showed them your tickets Eygpt-Switzerland-Eygpt and Eygpt-USA-Eygpt they might believe you would leave!

Couldn't you get a visa to Germany, then visit Switzerland? That is how I thought Shengen works.

For Switzerland, yes, I do have a booked flight. I don't have that for the USA, though.

It will be too much of a hassle to do that. It will also cost a lot of money. :/

I just don't really know what to write in the appeal letter, I could tell them about my business trip to Germany last month as well my other business trip to San Francisco in October. Would my father's US citizenship help?

I think they'd want more than just your word that you are heading to the U.S.
Probably flight bookings, hotel bookings and an official conference invite I'd think.

Are you a US Citizen? I think their response meant that none of the references you sent was from anyone they recognize.

The thing is that the registration for the upcoming conference still isn't available. I could show them the official invitation from the previous conference (it's the same conference/exhibition). I'm not sure if that would help.

No, I'm an Egyptian citizen. The references sent to them were from my host. I thought maybe telling them that my father is a US citizen would mean anything since I'll be applying for the green card through my father next year.
