traveling while pending permit extension, non-EU person with schengen visa

Hi,

I'm currently waiting for extension of my B-permit and want to travel to Germany. I've read in this forum that in migration office they can stamp a short-term schengen visa to passport, but I already have a valid 5-year touristic schengen visa which was given to me in my home country prior to moving to Switzerland. Will this work? or it is somehow was cancelled when I moved to Switzerland - on the visa the are no marks that it was cancelled. Once again this was not entry visa to Switzerland, this was given a year before I started all process of moving.

Thanks for help!

Re: traveling while pending permit extension, non-EU person with schengen visa

ch.ch recommends checking with the responsible Schengen-country mission in Switzerland, i.e., the German Embassy, to determine the required travel documents:

"Foreign nationals from non-EU/EFTA states – travelling in the Schengen area Foreign nationals from non-EU/EFTA states in possession of a valid Swiss foreign national permit B, C, L or Ci do not require a visa to visit a country in the Schengen area (up to 90 days within a 180-day period). However, you must carry a valid Swiss residence permit and valid travel documents (your passport or a Swiss travel document for foreign nationals).
You should check with the country’s diplomatic or consular mission in Switzerland to find out which travel documents you require, including passport (which may have to be valid six months beyond the date of travel), visa, medical insurance certificate, etc. Your travel agency may also be able to provide this information."

Re: traveling while pending permit extension, non-EU person with schengen visa

Well, thanks but this is not particularly helpful in my situation.

I have a visa. I'm just not sure that it is valid - looking for answers from people who experienced the same situation while waiting for permit extension.

Re: traveling while pending permit extension, non-EU person with schengen visa

for everyone interested - valid schengen visa does not make the trick, however they can stamp a new one at migration office which does it, costs 90CHF though, but very quick took me 20 minutes to do this.
