Import of household goods UK to Kanton Schwyz

Hi, I'm new to the site and my partner and I need your collective help and knowledge please. We plan to take some household items in to Swizterland in our own car on 26/09/15 along with our dog . Grahame has just applied for his B permit 2 days ago, he already has his employment contract and apartment rental contract confirmed and in place. Our next stage will be a man and van coming over with our main furniture delivery on 31 September. I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to go down this route and not use a professional removal co but we only have about 6 cubic meters of stuff to bring over so it didn't seem worth engaging a professional company. But I'm just beginning to doubt his knowledge of Swiss customs procedure (not his general knowledge of European removals as such). Do we need to do anything other than give him copies of our passports, employment contract, apartment contract and copy of B permit application, as he may not have the full permit through by the end of the month. So our questions are, do we need to give the courier guy any other paperwork and, are we likely to come up against problems if the B permit doesn't come through in time for our or our couriers journey. Also do we need to complete an 18.44 form for both our journeys. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

along with our dog .

I'll leave importing your goods to those who know more than I, but this did catch my eye. So just incase you haven't come across this before:

To import your dog, see the BLV's handy online tool:

http://blv.bytix.com/plus/dbr/default.aspx?lang=en

And a few things you need to do once you are here:

You have 10 days to register your dog with ANIS. You will need a vet to do the registration, so if you don't know of one already I can recommend several in the area. Additionally you will need to register your dog with the Gemeinde, pay the dog tax, etc.

In SZ you need liability insurance covering your dog, this is usually part of your general Privathaftpflicht. Just be sure that you tell your agent that you have a dog.

You also need a ruling from the cantonal Veterinarämt as to whether you need to do the SKN theory course, so get on that soonish. You will have 12 months to do the SKN practical course. If you need a recommendation for a trainer in the area, again I'd be happy to share some names.

Here is a summary of SZ dog control law - chief among these is that all dogs must be on lead when in public. SZ is the only canton where this is the case. (Some Gemeinden enforce this more strictly than others, do careful if you hike up the hill...)

Wilkommen in Ausserschwyz!

That's great, thanks. The agent does know we have a dog so we'll ask if liability is already included. Yes please, vet recommendations around Pfaffikon area would be appreciated.

So as to keep on the topic of goods importation (rather than turn it into a doggie thread ), I've sent you a PM.
