chrism1977 has slipped a little
advice on permits - EU/EFTA

Just an enquiry re B permits and renewals.

Obviously all of this may change soon with the EU negotiations and Masseneinwanderung Initiative.

If you have a B permit for 5 years and were unemployed for more than 12 months during this time but now have a full-time permanent job, will the B permit renew to another 5 year B or is there a chance the permit is only renewed for a year ? (due to the previous consecutive unemployment period).

If a spouse has a C permit (EU) then becomes married to her partner (whose situation I have described above), then does he also receive a C permit ?

We have two friends in the situation above, both EU, both in Pharma and who have not gone out of Switzerland since arrival in 2010.

Also, what is the situation for NON-EU Permit renewals ? We have Indian friends working here who are concerned about B permits not being renewed or converted to a L due to lower quotas for B's for non-EU

Thanks

Re: advice on permits - EU/EFTA

It will have no effect on renewing a B permit for 5 years.

Yes, you should be able to convert to a C - mind you this depends on what canton you live in for example. In Zurich I think you'd still need to show that you speak German to the required level to get a C.

If they already have B permits then that won't change unless the job is changed in some way. Quotas won't affect that. If they're on L permits then they could get another L if the B's are all gone.
