Help pls! Need to deregister in Switzerland

Hi, I left Switzerland in the Summer. I had an L permit which has now expired. I left a month or so prior to expiry. I didn't deregister with the authorities. Presumably this has now been automatically closed?
I now need a deregistration form
My ex employer won't answer me to do this on my behalf so what can anyone suggest please?

I suggest you call the community where you were registered and clear the issue with them. It's not your employer's responsibility.

I don't beleive it's automatically , for the community you must still be living there.

Re: Help pls! Need to deregister in Switzerland

I spoke to the pensions person and they need a deregistration form. I can either get this myself or ask my ex employer to complete on my behalf. I've tried the employer route. Am back in my home country now. I'm confused. I don't have contact details for my canton. Is this what you mean?
And I am not sure if going back to Switzerland to try to solve this will be a wasted trip for me as my work permit has expired now anyway

No, it wasn't.

It has nothing to do with your employer. You have to do it yourself.

Most of the local gemeinde have an online option. Google it or go directly to their webpage and check.

Re: Help pls! Need to deregister in Switzerland

ask your commune, there's contact details of the responsible office on the website usually.
It's not closed automatically, i think it's just marked permit expired which means "probably went back" or "went missing because permit expired".

Re: Help pls! Need to deregister in Switzerland

They automatically deregistered me last year in Basel-stadt, while I waited over 4 months to get my permit re-issued. That was no fun. They said that it was standard procedure for non-EUs with L permits.

Re: Help pls! Need to deregister in Switzerland

If you don't de-register you are liable for taxes and all sorts of things. Usually you have to go in person, so be prepared if the Gemeinde become difficult. You don't need a permit to visit for a day or so, do you?
