Help needed! Thank you in anticipation

Hello everyone! I am an Indian national married to a Swiss national.
Currently, we live in India and we plan to move to Switzerland (Fribourg) in March 2016. I have already applied for a D Visa at the consulate in Mumbai and just received an email today from Switzerland asking for a few additional documents. Please help me with the below queries -

1) Does my wife already need to be in Switzerland? Can't we leave India together in March 2016.

2) Does she need to have a job in Switzerland? She obviously does not have a job at the moment since we are in India. However, like I previously mentioned, she is a Swiss National and we can get a letter from her parents declaring that they would look after our finances till she can find a job.

3) The email I received asks for the "family certificate, issued by the Civil Status Department of the canton of your origins, marriage was celebrated abroad". What does this mean? Is it easy to get one?

I will truly appreciate your help with my queries. Thank you very much in anticipation. You guys are truly fantastic!

2) Yes. Or a big enough bank balance to show that she can support you. She can come without a job, but you won't be given a permit unless she has the means to support you. I don't think her parents can do this.

3) She will need to register your marriage in her Canton of Origin and get all the Swiss paperwork. Currently she is still considered single in Switzerland.

Thank you for the reply. May I ask why would she be considered single in Switzerland?? We were married in India but our Marriage has been registered at the Swiss Embassy in Delhi and updated in the family register in Sion, CH.

If that is the case, it should be simple just to get them to send you the "Swiss Certificate" She just needs to give them a call.

Hi Frank2K

Thanks for the welcome!
But what you said was far from nice. I hope you realize that people tend to move and settle in CH for a wide variety of reasons other than for being 'Kept' as you say. Quite an immature comment in my opinion.

The family certificate is easy to get. You need to apply at the commune where your wife's birth is registered (not where you are living. My husband was registered in Suhr, we live in Morges, so requested from Suhr). We got ours next day in the post.

Re: Help needed! Thank you in anticipation

We did the same thing last year, my hubby is Canadian. I did not have a job at the time either, so that is not a problem. She just needs to get her family certificate from her place of origin (Heimatort). Your marriage, if already registered with the Swiss Embassy, will be recorded on that. The certificate can often be ordered online from the Community office (Gemeinde).

Not too long back, Frank2K, you had your girlfriend brought over to CH in very similar circumstances, dependent on you. Does she like being called a "kept woman"? I guess not.
