Visitors visa for family - Question

Dear EF friends,

My family (2 adults) has applied for visitors visa from India. The application was accompanied by their documents + my documents (as required by Swiss / Schengen authorities). The Visa was applied through VFS.

Within 1 week the passports came back requesting a "verpflichtungserklärung" from me.

I just did that today from my gemiende.

Question :
a) Any idea how long do they have to wait before they can resubmit their passport in the swiss embassy Delhi?
b) Who should I follow up with (in Zurich) to find out if the information have been shared with the Swiss embassy ?
c) Their travel date is 5th May. Should I already consider postponing it?

regards
an anxious EFer

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question (Indian)

There was a similar question a few months ago.

I cannot find that thread, like you, they probably did not put Indian in the subject heading.

Hopefully they might see it and let you know

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question

Hi,

Using the keywords "Visitor Visa" along with one of either "declaration" or "sponsorship" in the Search function within EF yielded the following results. Hope they answer all your queries. Good luck with the application process!

declaration of duty/obligation (Verplichtungserklärung) for visitor visa

Invitation letter and Declaration of Sponsorship

Visitor Visa: Verpflichtungserklärung

Best is to write swiss embassy in delhi if they received it. I think it won't take that long.

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question

Just for 'general interest' this looks like a useful site for official information on the subject of entry visas from India. Might not help the OP but might be useful to someone else in the future. As it is an official site it should also be kept up to date with any future alterations to the requirements

Visa – Entry to and residence in Switzerland - India

I've added this Thread to the Sticky in the Permits/Visas/Government section where there is other information on similar subjects.

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question

Thanks everybody for your time.

Tomorrow, I plan to go to Migrationsamt at Berninaplatz, Zurich. Lets see if they are kind enough to tell me the status.
As a plan B, I am also planning to write to the Swiss embassy Delhi.

The process seems to be quite straight forward. But the flow of information is not quite transparent.

Lets see. I shall keep this thread updated.

cheers

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question

Further update -

Berninatplatz could check in the system if the CH Delhi embassy have the 'verphlichtüngserklarung' from the local authority (dietlikon in my case).

Next step - My family had to write a mail requesting a confirmation about the above info. The embassy did send a confirmation requesting resubmission of the passports for visa processing.

Below is the rough timeline for Visa application for family from India (Kolkata in my case)
- Booked an appointment with VFS, kolkata
- Day 1 - Submitted all documents as required (https://www.vfsglobal.ch/switzerland/india/)
- Day 8 - VFS status tracking suggested, passports were 'processed'
- Day 11 - Passports were available for collection at VFS Kolkata (Day 9/10 Sat - Sunday) requesting for the 'Verphlichtungserklarung' from me
- Day 12 - I submitted 'Verpflichtungserklärung' to gemeinde (link for Stadt Zurich https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/prd/de/...rklaerung.html)

- Day 14 - I requested Migrationsamt, Berninaplatz to check if CH Delhi embassy is aware of the Verphlichtungserklarung
- Day 14 - My family wrote a mail to CH embassy Delhi requesting confirmation
- Day 15 - CH embassy Delhi provided confirmation
- Day 21 - Appointment booked with VFS Kolkata for resubmission of the passports

..... to be continued

I am hoping that the the passports will be back after acceptance / decline (whatever) around 2/3rd May. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck. Generally if they have all the papers they need the passports are ready within 5 working days.

Re: Visitors visa for family - Question

... Continued -

Day 32 - Visa received ---- phew - that was stressful :-)

T-2 days of planned travel date.

Summary : Submit documents for at least 6 weeks before so that you don't have to wait till the 2 days before the travel.
