ORP support to a non working spouse

Hello,
I was rendered unemployed a few months ago and am receiving Chomage. We are trying to explore possibilities if my spouse can upgrade her skills and get a job here. She has never worked in Switzerland and hence not on chomage. Someone informed me that since I had paid contributions towards the unemployment when I was working, my wife can apply for a support (non-financial) to ORP and ask for language courses etc. Any thoughts? BTW, we are non EU, B permit holders.
Cheers

Re: ORP support to a non working spouse

Well, that's the first I've heard of such a thing. I would doubt it myself, after all you say non-financial, but who do you expect to pay for the course if not ORP? They may agree to pay for a language course for you if it would help you find a new job, but I doubt they will for your wife as she hasn't worked here.

Re: ORP support to a non working spouse

Medea,
They are paying for my courses anyway. Incidentally, the person who informed me is somehow connected to ORP. I am going to give it a shot anyway, just wanted to check if someone on this group has had any experience.
Cheers

Re: ORP support to a non working spouse

Generally, RAV will provide job search and advice to unemployed persons who are not otherwise eligible to receive unemployment insurance compensation:

"Übrigens: Auch wenn Sie als stellensuchende Person keinen Anspruch auf Arbeitslosengeld haben, können Sie sich zur Arbeitsvermittlung anmelden und sich beim RAV beraten lassen. "
