Forms for the Caisse de Chomage for unemployment benefit

Hi

I have a question about the forms I need to take to the Caisse de Chomage to be paid unemployment benefit.

I am being made redundant on 30th June and I've already completed all the steps at the ORP in Geneva and I have all the forms to take to the Caisse de Chomage. My employer is telling me that they cannot complete the form they need to complete until the end of Juky and thus I cannot take it to the Caisse de Chomage until early August. Will the Caisse take into account I've been unemployed since 1st July (I will fill in the forms for the ORP etc) and thus pay me when I take in the forms, essentially one month late. I'm kind of hoping that they don't start the clock the day I submit the forms.

Thanks for your help.

The clock starts when you have registered with the ORP (RAV). Make sure you are sending off at least 10 job applications. You will get back pay, but why cannot your company complete the forms? I would chase that matter, as you won't get a penny until the forms have been sent to the Caisse. Ask your company for a loan of your salary until they have sent the correct forms, and if they refuse, then escalate the request up the line. The company are behaving very badly.

Re: Forms for the Caisse de Chomage for unemployment benefit

Thanks, this is really helpful and reassuring.

The company is saying they cannot fill the forms in since they need to know how much holiday pay and severance I'm getting (it's redundancy) and this won't be paid until the end of July, although I'm sure they know this value already.

Thanks once more for your answer, I was just worried the clock would not start until August when I submit the forms.

You won't get paid at all until at least early August, even if you hand in the forms today., so I really don't see the problem.

Depending on your salary and family situation, you might not get anything until September.

Hi

My question was when do they start the clock, if I hand the forms in during August then they have to knock the days off that you don't get paid anyway it does make a difference. The previous responder replied and answered my query.

Thanks.
