After what feels like endless research on this topic I was wondering if anyone can help me out.....
Here’s the situation: Non E-U, been living and working in Zurich for almost three years. Resigned with my company for the upcoming work year (August 2008 on). During job search I have become unable to continue in my current profession due to illness. Complete re training will be needed as it was a very specialized job. PROBLEM: my B permit runs out in mid July. I would otherwise be entitled to IV pension, or unemployment benefits, except for the permit expirry. I want to stay in Switzerland at least 6 more months as my partner is Swiss.
Could anyone give me their two cents on the situation? I realize that I may have to become a ’tourist’ as of July, but obviously want to maximize my chances of some type of permit renewal.
