B permit holder with Brazillian boyfriend, please help!!

Please help!!
I have recently accepted a new job in the Vaud Canton where I will be working as a teacher. I am from the UK with a british passport. My parents have a house here which they own and I needed to move here due to family issues. However, my boyfriend is in London where I met him and where we lived together, he is from Brazil. We would both like him to come out here too but I am worried it is going to be impossible. He no longer has a visa to live in London so obviously needs to leave there asap. He is working as a builder and has about 5 years experience in this field although no formal qualifications. He speaks really good english but no French as yet. Would it ever be possible for him to get a work permit through an employer? Will he be able to come and live here with me and work? If there is a chance, what would we need to do to enable him to get the necessary documents? I am obviously willing to sponser him initial until he can get some employment legally. Is marriage the only option? Do you think he will experience problems trying to get into Switzerland when he hasn't had a visa for the UK?
Thanks so much for your suggestions.

The B permit allows your husband/wife + children under 18 to join you in Switzerland, but this is only possible if you are married. The other way is to get a B permit through an employer, but it is very very hard for a person who does not speak French at all... moreover the construction sector is gently slowing down and there might be an sensible increase of unemployment in this sector in 1-2 years. Sorry for the bad news...

So are you staying it will be very difficult to get any form of work? We are thinking that he will need to study anyway, so do you think it would be possible to get part time work while he studies french on a student visa? Just as a general labourer in the construction sector. Which construction companies work in the area? It is always worth giving it a try!

The L permit allows a person to stay in Switzerland between 4 and 12 months. He should have a contract from an employer in Switzerland or an inscription to a school (in the Canton de Vaud, he wil in this case have to fill up a form : see
www.vd.ch/fr/themes/vie-privee/etrangers/entree-et-sejour/

If you serach by google indicating: entreprise générale + vaud, you will find the addresses of many enterprises of construction.

You live in Leysin? Well there are quite a few English speaking ski resorts in this area where he could get work in the winter at least. Even if not in Leysin, then not so far away in Villars or Gstaad maybe???? Just an idea.

I live about 40 mins from there in the summer and work as a raft guide, one of my colleges lives in leysin..... I don't speak french.... so that could be an option for him next summer?

PM me if you want more info.

Re: B permit holder with Brazillian boyfriend, please help!!

Hi, One of my staff wanted to bring her (then) boyfriend (both Bulgarian) She was given a "B" permit, but he was asked to leave after 3 months (standard visitor allowance) they got married at Christmas, he applied again for Residency permit, but he could not come back into Switzerland until this was processed, after about 3 months he was also given a "B" permit and is now seeking work.
Sorry, can`t be more positive.
regards
Storm
