I am new to this forum. I though to use this forum for my quries.

I am currenlty in Pune, coming to Zurich on WP from my company for 4 months duration from september till december end.

I am planning to call my parents and my wife to zurich during my stay at zurich in late october.
I heard about visitor visa.

My question is can I apply for visitor visa for 3 persons. For how much duration this visitor visa will be granted based on my WP of 4 months (L1 card).

What will be the process?

Most likely the visa will not be issued for lack of sufficient financial guarantees.

As you are coming on short term permit a dependent visa is tough to get, but your family can get visit visas limited to 3 months for sure. For more info better call the Swiss consulate in Mumbai.

@fromsiggenthal I also like them to bring on Visitor visa. As dependent visa takes long time and it will bve granted in case you have a WP for 1 year or above. I am not sure for my 4 months visit I will be able to have visitor visas for my parent and my wife.

@Shorrick Mk2 If I show them suffecient bank balance then will they allow a visitor visa for 2 months atleast. I can borrow some money from freinds to show suffecient bank balance.

If I go for tourist visa then what is the maximum duration visa are issued.

Mostly 3 months duration.

It may be easier if you to stay out of this totally. Three individuals can apply for a normal tourist visa back home and show return plane tickets for e.g. a two week stay and sufficient funds for purposes of a 2 week tourist stay.

This may be much less suspicious than you applying for three tourist visas for your family and disclose that you are here for a short term work stay.

As you are saying that I should ask them to apply for tourist visa, my next question is whats the maximum stay limit will be allowed on tourist visa.

Do they need to show hotel bookings also or they can come and stay with me at my apartment?

The maximum stay for a tourist visa is 90 days. However, a plane ticket with a return date three months later will require the applicant to demonstrate sufficient funds.

Are you looking to bring your family here for three months to stay with you or are you wanting them to visit shortly before you leave. These are two very different situations.

Hotel bookings may be requested but a letter of invitation from yourself should suffice (provided with a fixed residential address).

And yes indeed, the funds should be shown by them. Although i have not stated explicitly, the swiss powers that be are cautious about issuing visas to Indian nationals as there is a fear that this will lead to mothers, fathers aunties, uncles etc.... following soon. This is also true for apartment applications as landlords fear this will turn into a ten people per apartment sort of thing.

So be cautious as to how you approach the embassy and be concise as to the purpose of the visit .

I would suggest do what others tell you here. You should let them get their own visitors visa which is normally for 3 months ( ask for that duratiuon on their form). They should get it unless their passpoorts are nearing expiry date.

I seriously doubt that you would be able to sponsor them for visitors visa when you yourself are here only for 4 months. Remember you can't do it unless you are here yourself and the procedure can take fairly long.It's not worth the bother and you may not land up getting it at all.

That's simple. Tourist visa means when your purpose of stay in Switzerland is purely tourism whereas visitor means when a host in Switzerland (with a valid residence permit etc) is inviting guests to visit him.

Keep in mind to get a tourist visa you need to have proper hotel booking/tour details/tour provider details etc. You will be granted visa for the number of days you can show in your itinerary. Visitor visa on the other side is issued at the request of a host from switzerland who invites guests to stay with them. In many cases he is liable for their visit and stay. Visitor visas can be issued for a maximum of 90 days.

If I call someone on visitor visa, is that person supposed to register at Kreisburo ?

Can I have him stay at my room during his stay as an extra, as he is just a visitor?

As long as it's allowed on your rental contract.
