large amounts of cash or an EU passport? Otherwise wait just like most people have to.

some people don't have English as their mother-tongue. If this is the type of comment you wish to add to the thread - shame on you.

We even keep mum when English teachers looking for work make fundamental grammar errors in their posts...

Re: How to process Dependent Spouse Visa(India) faster

Hi Hitesh,

It depends on which permit are you residing here, B or L? There is a standard form though which you can apply for the legalization of your Marraige Certificate. Once they legalize the Certificate they will send it to Migration office. You need to ask the embassy to confirm it to you by email that they have sent it. Once it is done you can go to your migration office and tell them that legalization is done and sent to Migration office. Then they issue a letter to you and to the embassy in India, which your wife can take and get visa stamped on her passprt. Once she enters CH she need to go and register at local Geminde or Krie Buro. After a month she will get her b Permit.

If you want to speed up your wife needs to be int ouch with the embassy in India and keep asking them. Once they have done the legalization you need to push here at migration office. The whole process takes around 2 months or more. So as a workaround you can request for a Visitor visa for three months but clearly stating that legalization is in process and it is taking time and for that time would like to visit Switzerland.

I hope it helps.

Re: How to process Dependent Spouse Visa(India) faster

Hi Timpy

Thanks for this use ful information

Actually I am in same situation I have already started few thread on this forum.

I am here on L permit which is valid till 9 months I have already spent 3 month here in switzerland because my company asked me to apply for my wife's permit. Unfortunately the application was returned by local gaimainde here in and now they are asking to translate all documents into German and get police clearance from india ( which is Bye the way not an easy task in india)

Now since last 3 weeks I am tring to find some language translator and arrange for police clearance which might take 1 month.

I was just thinking about this complete situation and I realized that if it takes 1 month for getting all document ready and 2 months for getting permit for them its not worth of doing so because my permit is valid till August 2009 so actually I have to go through all this pain just to bring my family here for 3 months.

Since I was working in UK so I have UK work permit valid till 2010 and I still work for same employer who applied for my work permit in UK.

So I have booked their ticket and since they have UK dependent visa they can stay in switzerland for 3 month.

But my concern here is if my permit get extended then can I extend or apply for their residence permit from here without going out of Switzerland.

Till now my employer promised me that its possible but after going through this forum I realized that its not simple.

Can anyone in this forum confirm if they have gone through such situation and what is the best way.

Thanks
Regards
IG

Re: How to process Dependent Spouse Visa(India) faster

I will be coming to Switzerland for a postdoc later this year (Sep/Oct). My work permit visa process is just going to begin. I married in March 2007 and I have a legal certificate of marriage. Is there anything in particular to keep in mind while applying for the visas? I understand that I might get a B-permit. If my wife is on a dependent visa, would she be able to work?

Yes keep in mind that legal and legalised may not mean the same thing. I had a legal certificate issued my marriage registrar.. but leagalised meant "verified by state megistrate & MEA etc". It may be country specific however
