complicated student permit question

ok a long complicated one for anyone who knows about these things and has loads of time on their hands
We lived in Geneva for the past 7 years, and my daughter was half-way thru her passport application when we had to relocate for 2 years (and will be returning to Gva after)
Her passport application was ''put on hold'' by the authorities provided she returns within 3 years, which she will do for her further studies (and hopefully life !)
Ofcourse once we left Gva we ''lost'' our B permits (provided by the Co.), which were ''frozen'' by the authorities for 4 years.

Now the question is - when my daughter returns to Gva next year (without us) to study, must she apply for a Swiss student visa in the country where we are presently residing ? Or would there be some other ''permit'' available to her due to her previous long-term residence there and pending passport application ?

We will follow on about 6 or 8 months after her, and ofcourse at that point we will all have B permits again.. so it is the initial period while she is at uni that is of concern to me.

Thanks to anyone taking the time to read this and helping me !

Re: complicated student permit question

You haven't mentioned your nationality but at any rate your daughter will have to apply for a student permit if she doesn't come back as your dependent. Being EU would be easier on her.

First time I hear about B permits being "frozen" though.

Re: complicated student permit question

we arent EU.. tho not sure if being a property owner in Gva makes any difference at all ? (ie we had lived in Gva for 7 yrs, set up home, now taken a 2 yr assignment, and thereafter will be returning to Gva. Our daughter tho will return prior to us for her continued studies tho). I guess in view of the circumstances the permits were ''frozen'' (and confirmed in writing) for 4 yrs.
