Good Afternoon. I have tried to search answers for my question in the forum under Visa/Permits and on websites but couldnt get proper information. May be my search was not good!! So got back to our Forum.

Here is what my status and what i need :

I have a valid L permit till third week of Nov08 and have applied for extenstion in first week of Oct'08. The staff at Kreisburo informed that i would be getting my L permit renewed in 6-8 weeks. In the meanwhile i am planning for my vacation by Nov 2nd week and will return by Dec 3rd week. I got to know that if i dont get my L permit renewed before i leave Swiss, i can get a Visa from Migration Dept by paying some fees. Till here its clear...no issues.

Clarity needed is for ...

1. I wanted to know how many days visa will the authorities give for my re-entry ? Is it a 30 or 90 Days valid visa ?

2. My family will leave swiss along with me but will return by jan 2nd week. Is it possible to get 90 days re-entry visa for them or is it only the number of days i get the visa, they will also get ?(say if i get 30 days, will they also get only 30 days visa ?).

3. Is there a way for which i can request for early approval of renewal of permit (I guess its impossible, but still any thoughts ??)

I tried to get in touch with authorities over phone, but couldnt get in touch with anyone - i shall try again, but meantime any info / help on this is much appreciated.

I suggest you go to your local kreisburo or gemeinde and ask them all these questions. They're the only ones who can give you the correct information.

I have the same situation. I applied for the L permit renewal, but when I told the lady at Kreisburo she put a comment on the L permit renewal form requested to consider faster processing of my L permit renewal, but she said you cant be sure that you may get it before your vacation.

She also suggested to get a re-entry visa and as far as I remember she said you can get a visa the days you request for.

But its better to get it clarified from the immigration office I would say.

How long does it take to get L permit extension.

I got it within 2 to 3 weeks. But its a big IF. The processing time is much faster nowadays because of the card. But there are cases in which people got it much later. I won't depend on it much if you are planning your vacation based on it

I am also here on L permit (Dependant). Usually re-entry visa maximum given for 90 days. When I travelled last time i.e sometime in may, I asked for 90 days and had the visa validity till August.
