Work Permit for "Significant Other" Class B Visa Holder

I am living in Switzerland on a Class B residency permit as the "Significant Other" of my Swiss girlfriend. I am a US lawyer and have decided to look for a job in Switzerland; however, my girlfriend was told that my visa did not include a work permit. I have looked around various threads and haven't found anything exactly on point. I have a couple questions:

1. Is it common that my Class B Visa did not include a work permit?

2. If not, what is the process (and how difficult is it) to get a work permit?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Travis

Yes, it is the norm with that visa. You just need to find a job, then as soon as the employer can provide a contract, or a letter saying they will employ you, you can get a permit with permission to work or at least start the process...

My goodness, you are here a year and have only noticed now that you are not permitted to work? Your lawyer's wit and skill might get rusty soon, don't worry though, you will find all the help you could want in this section of the forum.

My mistake ...you posted that in October... Youve probably sorted everything out since then!
