I am currently working in Switzerland on L work permit.My husband is also working in Switzerland on L work permit.

Now I want to leave work but continue staying here in Switzerland with my husband.

Do I need to convert my L work permit to dependent permit. If so , is the process simple, how long does it take.

I'd suggest going to your local Gemeinde where you are registered and asking them what you need to do...

your nationality is a matter of concern.you did not state if you and your husband are from EU or non-EU countries.

L permit is short term permit which is for a period of 1 year maximum.
Sponser of your L permit is your employer in switzerland.
If you leave job, then it means you are loosing your permit.

However, having your husband working here, i think you can apply for Dependent permit. However, i think you need to surrender your L permit first and go back to India. Then continue dependent visa process which will approximately may take 1.5 to 2.0 months ( maximum).

If your L permit expires in say another 4 to 5 months, then its not advised to go with all this adventure.

I would say work or no work the L permit allows you to stay up to the expiry date written on the permit.
