Guhn a little more information will be needed to give you a useful answer. On the whole the Swiss government aren't really in to helping people financially, especially non-Swiss.

Re: How can I study in Switzerland?

What Oldhand says is very true. Plus you will have to speak the local language as lectures are given, in my Canton of Zurich anyway, in German.

I come from South Africa, where education is "bought" by paying high fees or acquiring study loans, (or bursaries from private companies if you are a top achiever) on a basis that if you can pay you can learn. Here there seems to be a priority on earning your education by qualifying for entrance with high marks.

Right from school, students here seem to be weeded out according to their marks attained, and they branch off into doing some sort of trade studies, which are highly competed for. Only Top Students go further, to Technicons and Universities to study for professions.

Why do you want to study in Switzerland?.. Any particular reason?

Re: How can I study in Switzerland?

Thanks for your answers, the reason is simple, I like Europe and its culture, Switzerland has a good life level and excellent development, one of my dreams is travel the world if I can reach it with this way much better!

A professor in college told me he got a study loan from Italian government, and he have gone twice with this support. Maybe Swiss government has similar study loans.

About the site, thanks I'm looking for the information that I need. Thanks.

Re: How can I study in Switzerland?

Hello Guhn,

The problem is, there are some other millions young people in many countries, that would also like to do the same.

The swiss government will not help you to come and study, nor financially nor administratively.

This is something you have to obtain, maybe in your country there are some organisations that can award you with an scolarship or an students loan ?

That is only the financial part.

Then you have to apply to a swiss university or high school and be accepted by them.

This could be easy or very difficult, depending on your studies background and results.

The thing goes usually like this.

1. You know what you want to study and where there is a program that meet your goals.

2. You apply and if you fulfill the requirements you get accepted by the school, usually the scholl would ask for a preliminary language or academic test before confirming the acceptance, a test that is to be held locally.0

3. You request a visa to come here for the test. You'd have to show the embassy of Switzerland in Mexico that you have the financial means to afford your trip and that you are ready to go back if the university finally doesn't accept you.

4. You come here and pass the tests. The university deliver you an acceptance document.

5. With that document you request an student permit of residence. The authorities will then request you to prove you can finance your stay and studies, not necesarily linked with a local future job.
It is a difficult process and many have to go throught it.

Sometimes is an egg-chicken thing, you would not get an scolarship before you have the university acceptance and viceversa.

You have to be able to go thorugh all this process in French or German.

Good Luck.

You should try to investigate through CONACYT in Mexico, they give you loans to study abroad, I think is only for Masters, PhD etc...
