register partnership [same sex]

Hi there,

I am a non-EU citizen. My partner (EU citizen) and i are same sex partners and we intend to do the regester partnership, and possibily move to Switzerland. His company intend to send him to work in switzerland,
and as far as i understand it, as an eu he will be entitled to get a B permit. Therefore I will appreciate if anyone can help me to understand better if i can join him as his spouse, or get permit on the basis of family reunification grounds.

i thank you in advance for any help

Re: register partnership

in theory, your partnership should be almost equivalent to marriage. So you should benefit from that...

I'd be interested [and hoping] to see if it's true. The Swiss are actually fairly forward-thinking on such topics (surprisingly so for a conservative bunch!).

Re: register partnership

Hi!
You should be granted the same rights - and permits. As far as I know, this goes for most cantons. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_u...in_Switzerland - specifically
"Same-sex marriages formed outside Switzerland (e.g. in the Netherlands, where this is allowed) will be acknowledged as civil unions. Switzerland was the first nation to pass a same-sex union law by referendum." I think that is the same for common law marriages outside Switzerland, too.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Re: register partnership

20 Minuten today reports (in German) that there have been over 1000 civil partnerships in six months. Read about it here. It also has some demographic breakdown information.....

Definitely deserves a thumbs up on the thread. Our oh-so-often-conservative hosts have done a good job

Re: register partnership [same sex]

Anyone has any update on this topic? I am looking at bringing my partner over as well and the immigration website seems to be really vague about the benefits of the registered partnership.
Any success story?
Thanks

My BF got a work in Switzerland and so we decided to move here. If you wanna be here as a spouse you have to bring some prove of your registration - if you don't have it you have to register here. Before registering you have to announce yourself at canton, because you cant get registered before you are not announced properly.

We did that in February after that we got all the documents they wanted, but they are rejecting us every week and giving us some stupid excuse why those documents are not good:

1. On web page it says we have to bring all those documents with a stamp and that is it. We send them and we got them back, that they should be in one of official languages of CH.

2. We called and they said someone you know can translate them as long as it is not relative. We did that, they send us everything back saying we have to get our documents on embassy. I did all that and pay huge amount of money for everything.

3. On Friday we get letter that we are rejected cause we didn't have the right stamp - it should be some special stamp from special ministry.

I am getting so sick of them that I could scream! But on friday I also got job and I guess now things will get a bit quicker. Anyways I hope you 2 manage to get all things good - now call the canton authority where you will go and ask what all you need - and let them be precize!!!

Good luck

Re: register partnership [same sex]

I am already here with a B permit, therefore I assume I am well announced.
I have no inquired in Lausanne yet, although I will do so pretty soon, he's not coming before the end of the year anyway and I will keep on flying back and forth...
I have asked the Swiss consulate in Sydney what the requirement and that is what I have got (see attached)
It seems like a straight forward procedure, pretty much treated the same way of a marriage, where as long as you sign the papers they get issued a spouse visa pronto.
Someone told me to ask information to http://www.360.ch/ where apparently they offer support there.
So did you get your visa?
Thanks
