Clarification needed.

Dear All,

I am a non-EU national who has been living in Switzerland for almost seven years. My previous Swiss statuses were Permis B (student) and Carte de Legitimation (employment).

My spouse is a EU national with Permis B for whole Switzerland.

When I left my job, I was issued a Permis B (regroupement familiale non-EU). I think because we got married in Switzerland not in EU.

Am I allowed employment in Swtizerland? and if no, how hard is it to get a Permis B with "activité lucrative autorisé" for a person like me?

Thank you.

Funny enough there is a thread five slots below addressing this very same issue.

I think the search button should be made far more prominent.

Re: Clarification needed.

The way I see it, the situations are slightly different. It appears that Swiss make a clear distinction between EU and non-Eu who got married in Eu before coming to Switzerland and EU and non-Eu who got married in Switzerland, as in my case. The latter case gives a more restrictive Permis B, as fas as I understand. For example, my Permis B restricts me to Canton de Geneve, and then I need to apply through M2 form when I find a job.

You are nearly correct. Those who get married after the fact have a more restrictive permit ie who are in Switzerland and then get married.
