I am a non EU national, residing in Switzerland on an L Permit. I would like to travel to Czech Republic for a couple of days. Since Switzerland has joined the Schengen, do I need a visa to travel to Czech Republic? I have trying to find the information but have not been successful until now. Hopefully some of you would be able to guide me.
...As far as travelling to Schengen states is concerned, you should be okay as long as you have your passport and your L-Permit with you. However, as mentioned in aashish's post, it's gonna take some arguing for cetain countries even though technically they should allow you to enter straight away. I've been to France and the Czech Republic without any problems at all with my L-Permit and no Schengen visa.

Hey there, call the Czech Embassy in Bern, they will tell you.. Prague is absolutely beautiful this time of the year, just watch out for the mean pickpockets there, be travel savvy!

Thanks for the responses.
I also called up the Czech Embassy in Bern and they told me that I can travel to Czech Republic but my L Permit and Passport have to be valid after my return to Switerland.
But again, to be on the safe side, just call up the country's embassy where you wish to travel and confirm with them before you travel and if possible mail them and get a return mail of affirmation from them.
Indeed, Prague would be beautiful if it weren't for all the turists :-) .. it's a bit spoiled now.
If you're interested in the architecture, history and stuff, go there off-season or at 3am when all the souvenir sellers, prostitutes and pickpocketters (usually from the far east) are gone.
If you want to learn about Czech culture and/or countryside, avoid Prague :-)
