Permit refused

Hi, EF members

I've been waiting for almost 6 months for and answer to my work permit application and a few days ago it came nagative. What is very frustrating for me it's the reason it as refused: my contract is for Technical Architect and the employer(big company in Geneve) declared as vacant the position of Technical Consultant.this actually IS my job, even the advertisement was for technical consultant, but the company had a job title change, though it's the same thing and the duties are the same,it's NOT ANOTHER job.they made the mistake of declaring it under the old name and i'm the one who suffers now. do you know if there's any hope for the decision to be overturned? i can't describe just how frustrating it is for me.

Re: Permit refused

there is always hope. whether you will have success or not depends.

get your employer to appeal the situation with the explanation you just gave. and see what happens. they should probably talk to a permit lawyer just in case there are any weaknesses in their grounds for appeal.

Re: Permit refused

Could well be the HR lady just released an automated add... I would ask my employer to certify this - anyway, you must have received some sort of offer documents that you have aknowleged, no?

Re: Permit refused

Thank you, bill and lucy for replying me, the employer now has to tell me what they do next. Yes i have the offer signed and the contract, too of course. They are both for Technical Architect. When i applied to the job advertisement, it was Technical Consultant, they just had a title change in the meantime within the company, but by mistake when they declared my job vacant and that they had not found candidates with priority for it, they declared it under the old name, but it's this job not another. I wonder if anybody experienced such a strange problem before.
