I am working for a big company in bern since Jan 2006 on an L permit.

My wife visited me here from Feb-April and again in May on a tourist visa.

Her current tourist visa is valid till mid August.

But my contract has been extnded till Dec,31 2006.

I just want to know

1. Can I get her tourist visa extended here while she is in switzerland becuasde I beleive she cannot get a tourist visa in india when she goes back becuase of the limitation of 6 months/year rule.
2. By what other means can i make sure that she can stay here till 31st Dec 2006 (meaning till my contract expires )without returning to India.

Have you contacted your Gemeinde to ask them for advice?

Also - your location in your profile says India - you should probably change this to Bern since this is where you are living right now.

I don't think we've ever dealt with a case like yours on this forum, but it's an interesting question. To my mind your wife should have some sort of right to stay with you.

if my memory serves me, your spouse is allowed to live with you while you are working in Switzerland, but this is dependent on the type of visa you currently have.
if you have a B-permit, you can apply initially for an L-permit for her and later even a B-permit.
check with your gemeinde and also follow up this issue with your company's HR department, they should be clued up on these matters.
