Hi Everyone,

First thanks for all the great information on this forum! This is my first post and I find that despite the enoromous amount of information here, that I need help sifting through it all.

My situation: I am a US citizen (non-US) planning to get married to EU (italian, on 5 year B-permit) who already resides in Zurich (lease is in her name). Her gemeinde is DIETLIKON.

We are from New York City; she started a permanant job there a couple months ago. I am still in New York in my current job. I am looking for jobs in pharma (medical affairs) there, but they are moving really slow with processing job applications. Anyways.....

Can some one walk me through my next steps to secure resident and work visa after we obtain a marriage certificate. In few weeks we will Marry in NYC clerks office. Once we have certificate in hand, what is our next step?

Do we go to the cosulate in NY and register the marriage there? Or does she go to her Canton and/or gemeinde and put application there? Do I need to travel there to put the application in? Do I need translations.

Can she do all the paper work in Switerland or do I have to be there?

There is alot of info on the forum, but just having issues sifting, any answers/advise will be so greatly appreciated. It is my hope that once I get there I will have opportunity to meet many you on the forum.

I think Basel is the place to go..have you checked the Novartis and Roche websites? THey have a lotof positions BUT they move really slow (so maybe you have seen them sorry).

I got my job through them in Pharma but keep in mind that the whole process takes A LOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG time (maybe 4-6 months)
