Non-EU engaged to a EU citizen – Visa Option?

Hello all,

My fiancé and I are a bit confused regarding which visa we should apply for.
I am a French citizen. I am currently living and working in South Africa but this will change when I move to Switzerland in a few months. I will apply for a B permit as I get to Geneva. This process seems straight forward. That’s not the issue … BUT

I got engaged recently and my wife to be (she is South African) will join me in Switzerland. She would also want to have the right to live and work when we get to Geneva in 5 months time.

For personal reason, we only want to get married next year. Which means that we won’t be married when we arrive to Switzerland?

My question is: Is is possible for my fiancé to obtain a work visa if we are not married?

Any help will be more than appreciated.
Thank you. Vincent
