Re: English Certified Translations

Can't you get one of your relatives in Auz to order one for you ? It will save a lot of hassle and expense.

Go to any of the larger language schools, Inlingua or Berlitz for example. They will have a certified translator who can carry out the work & will be able to provide ou with a stamp to prove authenticity.

I had to do this for my Wedding License, English into German, cost around 180 chuffs for three copies if I remember correctly. Good luck

Re: English Certified Translations

Where in Australia are you from?

I had this done in Melbourne, cost around 70-80 Aussie dollars.

Switzerland may also require that you have an apostile (spelling? funny stamp thing for some documents) and if that is the case, it can only be done in Australia.

Sorry for asking but it might be worth your while saying who they are!? They might be wrong ie no translation is necessary.

Re: English Certified Translations

You could also have it certified by your local swiss embassy. I had to do that before moving here. My home country did not sign the Hague Convention so I did not need an apostille. Australia is under the Hague Convention so documents with an apostille should be accepted here.

Again it all depends what you need the documents for.

Re: English Certified Translations

I think the original poster was looking for a copy of their Auz birth certificate, which is why I don't understand why they require swiss docs at all unless you were born in switzerland ? After all, you would expect the docs to exist in the country of birth somewhere that could verify your existence ?

Re: English Certified Translations

Hi

As I said earlier you may need an apostille depending on the use of the documentation, and this can only be done in Australia at DFAT in the state of issue (as per the link provided)

You may be able to get a relative to do this for you, if that is what you need. I needed one when in Switzerland. I had them sent to me in Switzerland, sent them back to relatives who had them translated in Melbourne, and then relatives went to DFAT and had the apostille placed on both documents.

Its a pretty painful process if you need an apostille, check with your Swiss authroities if this is what they require. I am only guessing as I do not know what you are using the documentation for, but as I said, I needed it aswell.

Re: English Certified Translations

Okay so you need to request your bank statement in English - UBS send mine in English anyway and you cannot translate the address . The driving license assuming you have the credit card style is international anyway (or at least a friend of mine was able to hand it in in Sydney and get an Aussie one) so where is the translation required?
