unemployed, but i have to stay here

I am a researcher in an University, but now i get a notice of terminal of my contract. I want to know if it is eligile to stay in switzerland after i become unemployed but still in the period of permit B?

i came from Non-EU, have a annual renewable permit B. i arrived in March, 2009 because of this work, and signed a working contract for 1 year. But now it's over in advance, i am busy on looking for new job around EU.

You finished up in roughly half the time you needed, you should have taken more coffee breaks, longer lunch breaks, gone home earlier, come in later

You can stay here at least until your permit expires after which you need to leave. If you find a job in the meantime your new employer will need to sponsor a B permit; which others I read on the EF has proved to be the show stopper.

Thanks a lot. you guy are in the sense of humour. Actually i am very committed to this work, but there still are some barriers such as....language. i need more time to find a new job that is the reason i have to stay in switzerland. i want to make sure i can stay here, in case someday police drive us to airport.

Have a look at
Is RAV support extending your Work Permit ?

Seems like depends what's on your permit (if it was short term project related). Also someone non EU who renewed when unemployed (but they didnt have a short term one i think)
