Re: Permit B for my Son

can i ask why?
if it is student visa, you don't have to worry about anything. The institute will take care of everything.

Re: Permit B for my Son

Thanks for your response

I was told that for a Student Visa , it is mandatory for him to get admission and the process of Visa might get rejected

If he is on a B permit he can stay with me and learn German Language in an Institute before applying for admission in the University

Furher , with Student Visa after completion of University if doesnot get a job he has to leave the country , whereas if he stays with B as Dependent he can wait till he gets a decent job.

This is what i heard from others so i am not sure how true it is

How old is your son? 18 + ?
Has he chosen a university where he wants to study? Has he looked at the admission requirements and whether he meets those requirements?

If you mean he wants to finish high school in India, you have a few years until he will be eligible to attend university. Who knows what the rules will be then. But he should at least do some research to see what schools offer programs in English and what the admission requirements are. I recommend he attend a high school that offers the IB diploma. This is recognized by universities here (keep in mind they often ask for a good IB score!) As things stand your son will need his own permit to study here. As for what happens after he graduates, why not just think positively that he will find a good job here. Perhaps you have some connections and that will help too. Sometimes it's not what you know but who you know.

Here is a link you might find useful. It explains the university system in Switzerland.
http://www.crus.ch/information-progr...rland.html?L=2

This is a link with courses offered (partially) in English. (as of June 2009) If your son is serious about studying here, he should study German or French.
http://www.crus.ch/information-progr...glish.html?L=2

I just wanted to add that the information in this link about the University of Luzern is incorrect. It says there are no courses in English. That's not true.
http://english.hslu.ch/h-090105_flye...tional_web.pdf

It is possible for your son to live with you now (he would be given a B permit) and given his age, he would receive intensive German instruction. (most likely in Baden - though it is up to the Gemeinde where you live to decide exactly how his schooling requirements would be met). Just thought I would mention this though perhaps you already considered this when you moved here.

Well considering you can bring him over one year at the latest after your arrival, I think your plan won't work out.

Re: Permit B for my Son

Does your spouse live here or still in India with your son. If she is still in India, if your son came here, would she join?

Re: Permit B for my Son

Dear All,

Thanks a Lot for all the help

My Son Studies in a IB Program in India

My Wife lives here with me

My Son wants to complete his School in India as he has made his circle of Friends there and he does not want to leave the School and in any case if i bring him here and put him in Swiss School ( i cannot afford the International School too expensive) , i think at Grade 8 i will make his education very complicated here in Switzerland , My Son is very fluent in German for Last Three years he has been learning German from a Private Tutor in India

Regards
