Hi Friends,

I am in Basel Switzerland on B permit. I will be marrying in April and I will be applying Dependent visa for my fiance. I have read in the other forums that dependent visa takes 2 to 3 months. Also Switzerland dependent visa application categorically mentions not to apply tourist visa or visitor visa while dependent visa is in process.
Can I apply Schengen (German for example)tourist visa and bring her to Switzerland? (as Switzerland is part of Schengen states from Dec 2008).

But hopefully someone else had this situation and could tell you about it. I was studying german with a Hindi woman that is married to a Hindi man and she had to wait in India, I couls ask her about the situation if you find no answer here.

Was the woman from India or just Hindu?

I have quite a few friends in India that are not Hindu, and quite a few Hindu friends that are not Indian... Just clarifying...

From experience, the actual visa processing is only 1 - 1.5 months tops. But the marriage certificate legalisation in india takes a longer time depending on the place of marriage (If in a capital city then its faster compared to rural places). Lot of my collueges have married legally before the actual ceremony so as to speed up the process...

Regarding the tourist visa before dependent visa, I am not exactly sure but i have been told that the dependent needs to be in india for the processing of dependent visa.
