I have to get security clearance for my next job. It's of the US Federal govt. They need me to fingerprint. Can I get that done at the US Embassy in Bern? I am an American citizen.

I've had a TS clearance. Do they need you to have the clearance before or after you get the job? Anyway, I believe the Bern embassy does have fingerprinting capabilities. It should be easy to look up on their web site. One of the reasons they need it, I think, is for visa purposes (i.e. lost/stolen visa replacement).

by the way, I sent a message to the US Embassy. I'll let you know it they have an answer for me.

I needed fingerprints for my clearance as an educator in the US. I went to the embassy and they sent me to the Police station in Bern. Maybe you'll have better luck but my response was that unless it was an emergency I would need to go to the police station. Hope this helps.

I am in search of fingerprinting service in Basel-Stadt.

I stopped at the 24hr Kantonalpolizei at Clarastrasse this morning and they said they don't have any fingerprinting equipment, but referred me instead to the Staatsanwaltschaft at Benningerstrasse 21 (by the Zoo).

I will be headed their later today to see what I can get. I'll update if it's successful or if I get sent somewhere else.\\

Update:

I was successful at the Staatsanwaltschaft. It was easiest to get there from the Heuwaage tram station. I went to the Anmeldung and explained what I needed. The lady behind the glass picked up the phone and made a call. She then told me I had to go around the corner to one of the back entrances and ring the bell. When I got there, the guy I was supposed to meet was already waiting for me at the door. The cost was 30 Franks and it took less than 15 minutes.

Does anyone know where I can get fingerprinting done in Zürich? Can I go to any police station? THanks

sorry. i found the correct thread on this. Apparently police station Kasernestr. 29 does it.
