L-Permit Quota Exhausted - Canton of Zurich - 2010

Dear All,
After two weeks of permit processing. Authorities have reverted stating that the quota for non-eu in the canton of Zurich has been exhausted. This is bad news. After this news, my team has decided to go with the 4 month permit ( No quota here) . Is it possible to renew this permit or is one allowed to apply for a new 4 month permit on expiry?. Can we go ahead and apply for the L-Permit from Zurich ( While on a 4 month permit) once the authorities increase the quota by june( Not sure !! ). Would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

After a L-permit you can't get an another L permit again according to the law. Please see http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/as/2007/5497.pdf

Art. 57 Aneinanderreihung
1 Die folgenden Bewilligungen dürfen nicht unmittelbar aneinandergereiht werden:
a. Kurzaufenthaltsbewilligungen bis zu vier Monaten (Art. 19 Abs. 4 Bst. a);
b. Kurzaufenthaltsbewilligungen über vier Monaten (Art. 19 Abs. 1);
c. Kurzaufenthaltsbewilligungen bis zu acht Monaten (Art. 19 Abs. 4 Bst. b
und Art. 34);
d. Kurzaufenthaltsbewilligungen für Stagiaires (Art. 42).

You can translate the geman in english with http://translate.google.cn/

I hope this can help you.

Wont make any sense to apply for 2 or 4 months permit, as now they have stopped extending those permits after they are expired.

couple of people from my comp had to go back after their 4 month permit expired.

I thought L permits had no quotas for EU or non EU. Anyone could get it anytime. Or not ?

I dont think L-Permit is generic for Non-EU and EU. It has specific quota for non-EU. Anybody knows prooved information about this can share here.

Also, i would like to know if anybody (Non-EU) got work Permit who have applied after Jan 2010 (probably Zurich Kanton).

Very sorry to hear that. Can you please let me know when did you apply? Is it before Jan 2010 or after Jan 2010? And do you know whether the quota for zurich canton is already filled or not?
