Moving to Switzerland please advise !!!

Hi
I am a British.
I've read through few threads, some are similar to my questions but to be sure I am just putting my questions.

My girlfriend moved to CH about a year ago and now I've decided to join her.
Firstly I am going to German language school for a couple of month(if need more) as well as job search.

1:Job search people will be allowed to stay up to 6 months right?
Is there any paperwork for me to send to Swiss embassy or the local council?
Also I am not sure about this because I have been to CH many many times and sometimes I would enter BASEL from DE by train, as you might know we rarely encounter the border control therefore no passport check or whatsoever.
In that case I (same to Swiss immigration) quite literally have no official date to prove my exact staying period.
My plan is I am just going to the school and look for a job (by the way I am going from Germany...so quite possible for me not to pass the passport control
again.
2:Civil partner ship.
It is good to know about it as I thought they didn't have the kind of visa.
Based on my profile (having EU partner working already in CH), would I able to apply for this visa? If so, what pros and cons do we need to think about?(tax etc etc..)

Thanks !!

Re: Moving to Switzwerland Pls advise !!!

Hi....there is lots of information on here about your questions, but my only comment is that there is a difference between coming here "legally" from Germany and not meeting border control and staying here to go to school or look for work.....

However, Switzerland is now part of Schengen so theoretically EU citizens have full right of entry etc so don't think you need a civil partnership visa and if you are an EU citizen yourself, why would you need one?

Job search 3 months. Possible extension for a further 3 months at authorities discretion.

Just register at the local town hall when you arrive.

If you are a girl then yes, otherwise no. Generally this is for same sex partnerships.

Schengen has no relevance whatsoever to EU citizens.

Freedom of movement within EU states is covered by EU law - not by Schengen which is only has relevant for non EU countries.

But Switzerland isn't EU so it is relevant to EU coming here, no?

No. There is a bilateral agreement between the EU and Switzerland.
