How many days before B permit expires can a non-EU citizen enter Switzerland?

I heard that more than 1 week before the B residence permit expires I have to enter the country and apply for renewing it. I do not want to face a problem in the border (Italy or Switzerland-depends on the available flight). Thanks in advance.

One week before expiry should be fine, because I did the same and they was no problem at all..
