I am Non-EU. My name is mis-spelt in passport and i am approaching embassy of my home country in Switzerland to get a new passport with corrected name. Lets for now assume somehow i manage to get passport with correct name.
i would like to know the implications of the name change in passport on my Swiss work permit. Can i get name change on Swiss work permit done easily (on the basis of correct passport) or is there a long process for the same?
has anyone in this group been in similar situation? please share your thoughts.
My fiance is Russian and will change her name to my name after our wedding in one month. In order to change her passport name, she needs to travel back to Russia to APPLY to change the name on her national ID card (this will take a month), then she can travel back here.....she will then RETURN to Russia to collect the changed ID card and only THEN can she change her passport to her new name here.....(with me so far?)
The issue is that when she returns from Russia the first time, IF the Kanton send her a new ausweis before she travels, then she will have a swiss visa through the ausweis in her new name with a passport in her old name. Thats fine for entry into Switzerland I hope.....marriage certificate, ausweis history on the computer etc etc, but it will be an issue to leave Russia ("Your visa is in a different name to your passport").....marriage certificate might help, but I don't want to rely on the flexibility of Russian customs staff!
However, IF we can hold onto the old ausweis until she returns from the trip to start the process, it will be ok.
So....finally....the question......when one gets married here and names change, does the new ausweis etc come automatically (the lady at the registry office implied it does, but not with much certainty) or do you need to apply within a certain period of time?
