Employment in Zurich for non-EU

I'm a recent graduate with BSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry.

Currently I'm job hunting for positions available in my field of studies
I was wondering how difficult is it for a non-EU Canadian with my educational background to find a job in Zurich.

Also, since English is my native language I'm also interested in finding a teaching job. I was wondering anyone had any information regarding teaching English in the Zuich Area.

Thank you,

Hi

Your degrees are highly sought after but mainly in Basel. Basel is a 1 hour train ride from Zurich.

If you are planning to work in Zurich /Basel, the best thing to do is to get on top of German and also skill yourself up with some excellent work experience in the short term.

As a non-EU it is not easy getting a permit to work, you need to work in a niche field and pharmaceuticals is a good place to start.

Teaching english is difficult as a profession because there are so many Swiss people who already know and teach it locally, and have the added advantage of knowing the local languages to support their teaching.

I totally agree with AnAustralian. In Basel you have more chances to find something in your field.
