My husband is required in San Francisco for 3 months. Taking into consideration our travel plans on either side of the business trip it's likely we will be out of the country for up to 4 months.
During this 4 month period my B permit expires. I know that my husbands office is responsible for the renewal of my permit but will it be an issue with me out of the country? As this is our first renewal (and we went through hell with HR errors to get the permit in the first place) I'm a little concerned.
I'm in the process of renewing our insurances for items we will be taking with us, organizing a post redirection to insure we receive bills etc and organizing for someone to water the plants and keep and eye on the place. But I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me if our health insurance (we both have top cover) will cover us whilst we are overseas or if we need to pay an add on or buy new cover? I've sent through an email to out provider but have yet to get a response.
We've not travelled for long periods of time out of Switzerland so I'm trying to ensure I'm up to speed. Is there anything I need to know or am missing to ensure we've got our bases covered here?

I'm having nightmares about discovering I've not put some precaution in place and breaking a law I know nothing about or putting our permits in jeopardy.
I'm unsure where to post this thread. I hope I have it in the correct place. Humble apologies to the mods if its incorrect.
