Waffenscheine / Weapons Permits

hi everyone,

this is more of a thread for us Yanks who come from a country crazy enough to lack the sensible firearm legislation that most other countries have. but thats a digression...

When i lived in the US i had a collection of antique firearms. Basically if it was carried in ww1 or ww2, i could well have had it locked up in a safe and took it out to the range to shoot from time to time. (no, i'm not a member of the NRA or a member of the "gun nut" Right who's afraid the UN's storm troops are going to descend from black helicopters in the middle of the night and steal bibles, just to clear that up. My collection was to ward of the inevitable zombie apocalypse.)

When i moved to switzerland, i left them at home, since getting the permits wrong is a really good way to end up in jail in both this and the mother country.

Now that i've been here a while and seen what sort of firearms are available to swiss shooters, there seems to me to be a significant arbitrage opportunity. STGW 57s are very cheap here, and fetch a rather high price in the US.

My question for this forum is multipart. With a B pass, I can bewerb for a waffenschein (oder?).

1. how many could i buy/own at a time as a dreckige auslaender?
2. what is the policy for leaving the country with firearms?
3. what is the policy in the US for entering with foreign purchased firearms (would i need a special permit from the ATF)?
4. Has anyone else done this who's one this board?

I will of course do this research myself too over the coming days but just thought i'd throw this out there in case someone else has had this bright idea as well (and had it proven not so bright, or done well). I'm not of course looking to make a fortune in arms dealing but based on prelim guesses it would seem that if i took one home 2ce a year and sold it, it would finance the travel.

I'm not into firearms (just google) but here's a link to get you started:
